How it works

Every kid is different. Finally, learning is too.

ooli is a world of games on iPhone and iPad that learns what your kid knows and plays at their level. Here's what that looks like, from the first tap to bedtime.
  1. Hatch their ooli

The first time your kid plays, an egg wobbles, cracks and out pops a baby dino: their very own ooli. They pick its colour, pattern, outfit and voice, and give it a name from our list. It's theirs.

  2. Pick a game on the island

Rex's island has eight games: stories, spelling, writing letters, counting, space, shapes and patterns, feelings and kindness, and music. Rex says every word out loud and a pointing hand shows each new move, so kids who can't read yet play on their own.

  3. It plays at their level

Every tap teaches ooli a little more about what your kid knows. The next round is built from that: mostly what they're working on, some review, and a few easy wins. Too hard and it eases off in the same round. Breezing through and it steps up.

  4. Every round ends with a choice

"Again!" or "All done", the same size, and nothing starts the next round by itself. Everything they make goes on their shelf to see again, with ooli photos of their ooli that stay on your device.

  5. Rex says goodnight

Set a daily limit and a bedtime lock for each kid. When time's up, Rex says goodnight and the island goes to sleep until morning. No upsell, no pleading, no “one more”.

  6. You see what they're learning

Behind your passcode, each kid's Learning page shows what they've got, where they're moving fast, what needs more practice, and questions to ask them tonight. It updates after every round. No grades, no rankings, no comparing kids.

Where the AI is, and where it isn't

Smart about your kid. Locked down everywhere else.

  • Our own learning engine. ooli's AI is a learning engine we built. It works out what your kid knows from how they play, and picks what to practise next.
  • No chat, no typing. Kids never chat with AI or type to it. They tap and pick.
  • Nothing trains it. Nothing your kid does trains any AI, ours or anyone else's.
  • Picks stay put. What your kid picks in Silly Story Builder never leaves the device.
lionparkdonutdance

A lion wanted a donut for breakfast, so it went to the park. Everybody there was already eating a donut. The lion was so surprised it started to dance. Now that's the breakfast rule.

Silly Story Builder: four picks, one silly story, each word lighting up as Rex reads it.

Grown-ups only

You hold the keys.

Your own passcode

Settings, your account and anything that leaves the game sit behind a grown-up passcode. Kids never see a price, a link or a purchase.

Daily limits and bedtime

A daily limit and a bedtime lock for each kid, after which the island sleeps until morning.

Your family's data

Your kids' progress is kept in your account only after you sign in and give consent. See it, download it or delete it any time.

Be one of the first families in.

ooli is coming soon to iPhone and iPad. We're letting a small group of families try it first, a few at a time.
